Claimant of ecstasy tablets nabbed

AS part of the Bureau of Customs’ (BOC) commitment to border security, the BOC- Port of NAIA announced the arrest of the claimant of ecstasy tablets in the Central Post Office Manila.

The operation was carried out by a composite team composed of members of BOC NAIA , PDEA, NAIA-IAIDTG, members of the Customs Anti-illegal Drugs Task Force, Enforcement and Security Service (ESS), Customs Intelligence and Investigation Service (CIIS) and X-ray Inspection Project (XIP). The tablets were initially discovered by the BOC-NAIA personnel after an x-ray scanning yielded suspicious images and the shipment was opened for a physical examination.

The letter parcels originated from the Netherlands and were consigned to a certain “Henry James Chua” the letter parcel was discovered to contain a total of 100 tablets of ecstasy tablets which was estimated to have a market value of P170,000.

The seized illegal drugs and claimant are now with PDEA under custodial investigation and case build up for violation of the RA 9165 also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 in relation to Section 1401 of RA 10863 also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
