CIDG nets 13 suspects in anti-crime ops

THIRTEEN lawbreakers were hauled to jail by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) in separate anti-criminality operations in the countryside this week, PNP-CIDG Director Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee said on Friday.

In a report to PNP chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr., the official said that one of the suspects, a 58-year-old resident of Barangay Nangka in Balamban, Cebu was arrested on the strength of a warrant for RA (Republic Act) 9165 issued by Judge Judlyn Tapia of the Toledo City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 59 last December 21.

The suspect, who was tagged as the top 1 “most wanted” man in Cebu, has been ordered to post a P200,000 bail for his temporary liberty.

The two others were arrested last Monday, including one of the ten “most wanted persons” (MWPs) in the Bicol region was arrested based on a non-bailable warrant for three counts of rape issued by Judge Agaton Fajardo of the Naga City RTC Br. 6 last November 3.

On the other hand, one suspect was arrested in Iloilo City for two counts of sexual abuse with a total of P400,000 recommended bail.

Lee said that the other suspects were arrested on the strength of arrest warrants ranging from child abuse, theft, frustrated murder, and reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injuries and damage to property.
