A 32-YEAR-OLD man wanted for statutory rape and acts of lasciviousness and tagged as the 3rd “most wanted person” (MWP) in Makati City was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) last Thursday evening, PNP-CIDG Director Brigadier General Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said Saturday.

The suspect, a resident of Barangay Pinagkaisahan, Makati City, was placed under arrest based on a warrant for two counts of statutory rape and statutory acts of lasciviousness issued by Judge Robert Victor Marcon of the Makati City Family Court Branch 3.

The court recommended no bail for the suspect in connection with the two counts of statutory rape case filed against him. On the other hand, he was allowed to post a P108,000 bail for the statutory acts of lasciviousness case slapped on him.

Caramat said that members of the CIDG Women and Children Complaints Unit under Colonel Ma Ivy P. Castillo arrested the suspect at the ground floor parking lot of a building in Sergeant Fabian Yabut Street corner Bgy. Nuevo in Guadalupe area 6:40 p.m. Thursday.

Records showed that the victim, accompanied by her mother, went to the CIDG-WCCU office in Camp Crame to file a criminal complaint against the accused on July 28 last year. The victim said she was sexually abused by the victim inside his residence in Guadalupe many times since July 2021.

The CIDG-WCCU filed a criminal complaint against the suspect before the Makati City Prosecutor’s Office on August 3, 2022. The warrant for the arrest of the accused was issued last Thursday.

The accused was immediately apprised of his constitutional rights before being taken to the CIDG-WCCU office for booking pending his presentation to court for an official jail commitment order.

“This arrest only serves to highlight how committed our CIDG officers are in defending the rights and dignity of women and children who are particularly vulnerable to molestation and harassment,” Caramat said as he commended the operatives of the CIDG-WCCU who tracked down the suspect.
