PHILIPPINE National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) members arrested a policeman and a member of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) on firearms’ trafficking charges, PNP-CIDG director Major General Romeo M. Caramat Jr. said Saturday.

Police Master Sergeant Datu Halil Uto Diocalano, 40, and Asrap Gumama Buwao alias Kagui Darin, 46, a member of the MILF Task Force Itihad, are now facing criminal charges for violation of Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulations Act of 2013, the PNP-CIDG chief said.

According to Caramat, the two were arrested after they conspired to sell illegal guns to an undercover officer from the CIDG Maguindanao Provincial Field Unit along Sausa St. in Brgy. Rosary Heights 1 in Cotabato City around 2:30 p.m. Friday.

Recovered from the two were the two R4 caliber 5.56 M16 automatic rifles, one M4 cal. 5.56 assault rifle, three M-16 magazines and the P450,000 buy-bust money.

Diocolano was also stripped of his issued firearm.

Caramat said that a red Toyota Innova (LES 493) used by the duo to transport the weapons was impounded by the local CIDG.
