PHILIPPINE National Police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group director Maj. Gen. Leo M. Francisco yesterday announced the arrest of 60 wanted persons in the country, three of them South Korean fugitives, following a string of manhunt operations across the country.

In a report to PNP chief Gen. Rommel Francisco D. Marbil, the official said the suspects were arrested in the wake of their intensified implementation of the CIDG “Oplan: Pagtugis” aimed at accounting for all wanted persons nationwide.

Francisco said three of the wanted Koreans were arrested in Bgy. Bulacao in Talisay City, Cebu last Saturday. He identified them as “Han,” 37; “Jo,” 37; and “Lee,” 36, all subject of a warrant of arrest for violation of Article 334 of the Criminal Act of Korea otherwise known as special robbery issued by the Seoul Eastern District Court last January 31.

He said that CIDG Region 7 officers were joined by members of the Bureau of Immigration Fugitive Search Unit and the Naval Intelligence Service Group in apprehending the Koreans.

The three were members of a group engaged in using sophisticated instruments like tracking devices and surveillance cameras to secretly monitor their victims in order to obtain passwords and other personal information.

They breach the security of various residences in Korea, which earned the suspects over 4.5 million Korean Won (KRW) worth of personal properties owned by their victims.

Francisco said the CIDG Regional Field Unit 7 also arrested two Regional Most Wanted Persons in Central Visayas last Sunday.

One of the two identified as alias “‘Jomar,” 35, is wanted for two counts of acts of lasciviousness with a P200,000 recommended bail by the Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 7. The accused, who was tagged as the fifth most wanted man in Cebu, was arrested in Bgy. Pasil in Cebu City.

The second identified as alias “Roger,” 28, was arrested in his hiding place in Bgy. Basak in Lapu-Lapu City, also in Cebu. Tagged as the 10th most wanted man in Region 7, the suspect was arrested on the strength of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for two counts of rape issued by the Lapu-Lapu City RTC Branch 5 last April 29.

The 55 other wanted persons were arrested in a 24-hour operation launched by the CIDG last Monday. They include one National MWP, five Regional Level MWPs, four Provincial Level MWPs, and four Municipal Level MWPs.
