OFFICERS of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested a Chinese national for attempting to depart using a fraudulent Mexican passport.

BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco shared that officers assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 1 reported the interception of Chinese national Lho Zhi Min, 53, after attempting to depart for Kuala Lumpur on board a Malaysia Airlines flight using a Mexican passport Saturday morning.

Lho failed to answer basic question and his documents were referred for tertiary inspection. The BI’s forensic documents laboratory confirmed that said passport was fraudulent.

Lho was immediately arrested for violation of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940. After inquest proceedings, he will remain in the BI’s facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending deportation proceedings.
