TRECE MARTIRES CITY, Cavite — There are 1,188 new cases of COVID-19 cases out of a total of 4,273 active cases in Cavite, based on data released by the Department of Health – R -4A on Sunday, January 9, 2022.

The said data is also the highest in the entire region since the surge this first Sunday of January, 2022 with Laguna having 1,733 active cases; Batangas with 611; Rizal, 526 and Quezon, 346 active.

Based on the latest social media post of Cavite Provincial Governor Juanito Victor ‘Jonvic’ Remulla Jr, early Monday, January 10, the number of cases is expected to increase in coming weeks.

“Kahit umakyat sa mahigit isang libo nitong mga nakaraang araw ang mga positibo ay 41.5% lamang ng COVID-ICU capacity sa ating mga ospital. Tinatayang 96.4% ang mga mild o asymptomatic. Samantala, zero naman ang reported deaths sa Cavite.” Remulla said.

‘I will vehemently oppose any lockdown. Our policies must be based on reality and humanity (economic and welfare). The effects of a never-ending lockdown outweigh the benefits. Naniniwala akong malalagpasan natin ang lahat ng pagsubok na ito. We must take the effort to be responsible, knowledgeable and disciplined to mitigate the spread of the virus.” Remulla added.

Remulla also mentioned that Omicron may be the most contagious variant yet given the tsunami of infections we are seeing, better safe than sorry. So let’s all do our part in protecting ourselves and those around us,” he stressed.

On his Facebook post, Remulla addressed the strong and not affected by the disease to share “health tips as these may help our provinces.”
