Cadizcops commended for solving teacher’s slay case

PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) chief, General Guillermo Lorenzo T. Eleazar on Sunday commended members of the Cadiz City Police Station in Negros Occidental for immediately solving the case of a slain senior high school teacher.

The top cop said commendations are in order for officers and men of the Cadiz City PNP led by Lieutenant Colonel Rocky Desear for working round-the-clock and leaving no stones unturned in investigation the case of 28-year old Jessica Ducay of the Dr. Vicente F. Gustillo Memorial High School who was killed in a robbery case last Friday.

Gen. Eleazar said that patient sleuthing and follow-up operations by the local police in Bacolod City led in the arrest of Delleon del Rosario,39, a housepainter hired by the victim’s family.

An investigation showed that the suspect stabbed the victim to death before stealing her bag and other personal belongings.

The PNP chief said that CCTV footages showed the suspect leaving the Ducay’s residence in Barangay Banguerohan while carrying the teacher’s bag containing some P79,000 in cash.

“Mabilis ang naging aksyon ng inyong PNP sa kasong ito at ito naman ay kabilang sa ating mga repormang ipinapatupad upang patuloy na maramdaman ng ating mga kababayan ang tunay na serbisyong pulis pagdating sa pagpapatupad ng batas at pagpapanagot sa mga lumalabag dito,” said Gen. Eleazar.

“Makakaasa ang ating mga kababayan ng aming patuloy na pagsisikap na baliktarin ang sitwasyon kung saan ang takot ay dapat mamayani sa puso at isipan ng mga kriminal at hindi ng ating mga kababayan na sumusunod sa batas,” he added.

The suspect is now detained at the Cadiz City Police Stationfacing a robbery with homicide case.
