THE Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) welcomed the successful arrival of Scoot Air’s maiden flight TR 360 from Singapore at the Davao International Airport (DIA) on Wednesday, December 1, 2021.

The Singaporean airline, carrying a total of 102 passengers, was received with a water cannon salute upon its arrival at around 2:40 p.m. The flight was scheduled to depart Davao at around 4:05 PM. Scoot Air will operate the Singapore-Davao-Singapore flights once a week.

According to CAAP-Davao Area Manager Agnes Udang and DIA Airport Manager Rex Obcena, Scoot Air is the first international airline to operate scheduled international flights in DIA. However, even before the pandemic, the Davao International Airport has catered to unscheduled international flights mostly from Dubai.

Davao International Airport caters to domestic flights from PAL, PALEx, Cebu Pacific and AirAsia weekly.

As of today, development projects are being pursued for the continuous improvement of Davao International Airport.

Led by Department of Transportation (DOTr) Secretary Art Tugade, along with Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) Director General Jim Sydiongco, projects such as the Asphalt Overlay of Old Apron including Access Road and Taxiway have been completed last year; while renovation works in the airport’s restrooms and re-flooring of pre-departure area were completed in 2019.
