A “BOGUS” housing contractor accused of having victimized over 20 persons who were convinced to apply in his non-existing “Build Now, Pay Later” scheme was arrested by agents of the Philippine National Police’s (PNP) Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) in an entrapment operation in Angeles City in Pampanga last Saturday, CIDG Director Brigadier General Ronald O. Lee said Monday.

The suspect, a resident of Metro Gate, Mining, Angeles City, was caught during a sting launched by the CIDG Regional Field Unit (RFU) 3 under Col. Joshua F. Alejandro following a number of complaints hurled against the latter, the official said.

The suspect is now facing criminal charges for robbery-extortion and estafa, he added.

According to Lee, the arrest was triggered by the latest complaint filed by the victim before the CIDG Angeles City Field Unit.

The man complained that the suspect is engaged in a fraudulent “Build Now, Pay Later” scheme and purported “low-cost housing projects,” which have victimized more than 20 persons already.

The CIDG RFU 3 said their investigation showed that the suspect has been representing himself as a “licensed contractor” to lure potential clients. After giving the down payment to the suspect, the victims will discover that the construction of their homes is “not moving at all.”

Lee said that recovered from the possession of the suspect during the entrapment operation were the P300,000 entrapment money topped by ten pieces of marked P1,000 bills.
