‘Bogus’ dentist collared in Tanza

TANZA, Cavite – One woman was caught in the act of practicing dentistry on Sunday, October 16, 2022, in Barangay Bagtas, here by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) Cavite.

The alleged “fake” dentist was caught in the act while practicing dental technology without a certificate of registration, and professional identification card, including a special permit, issued under the provisions of Republic Act (RA) 9484, or “An act to regulate the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene and dental technology of the Philippines.”

The suspect was immediately arrested, and authorities confiscated dental paraphernalia from her possession in violation of Sec. 33 (a) of RA 9484 (The Philippine Dental Act of 2007).

CIDG Cavite PFU (Provincial Forensic Unit) agents, together with the team of the Philippine Dental Association Cavite Chapter led by Dra. Narisa H. Ragos, deputy chairman, conducted the entrapment operation against the bogus dentist.

CIDG operatives recovered 400 grams alginate impression tray; a set of powder and liquid self-curing tray; a rubber bowl; a plaster spatula; 50 plastic individual impression trays; 31 pieces of assorted rubber ligaties; six orthodontic wires; a wire cutter; two hemostats; articulating holder; tissue forceps; beak plier; a low-speed micromotor; ten processed dentures with a retainer; one unit porcelain crown; a scaler; an ortho wax; and 14 acrylic trimmers.

The suspect and confiscated evidence were brought to CIDG Cavite PFU Office for documentation and proper disposition.
