BASER Amer nailed a dagger three-pointer and Mike Ayonayon made a clutch layup following an interception as Blackwater Elite pulled the rug from under San Miguel Beer, 109-106 in the PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.

Amer put Blackwater ahead, 107-106, with a three-pointer off a foul Chris Ross with 32 seconds left.

And although Amer failed to complete a four-point play after missing the bonus free throw, Ayonayon caught an errant pass by CJ Perez for a two-point layup that gave the Bossing a three-point cushion.

Missed three-pointers by Marcio Lassiter and import Diamond Stone enabled Blackwater to escape with the win.

The last-minute heroics of Amer and Ayonayon came after the Bossing battled back from a 15-point deficit to stun the Beermen in the biggest upset win so far in the import-flavored conference.

Cameron Krutwig finished with a triple double of 20 points, 18 rebounds and 10 assists to power Blackwater toa victory.

Amer had 16 points while Troy Rosario added 13 points for coach Ariel Vanguardia.

“It’s a learning (experience). Pero sabi ko nga, this is the best time to meet San Miguel kasi nga they’re still struggling, bago pa ‘yung import,” said Bossing coach Ariel Vanguardia in an interview.

“He’s not the typical import who’ll score 40 for you, but he makes us better. He makes everybody better,” added Vanguardia.

“If we get an import who’s gonna score 40 or 50 points it doesn’t help us because the other teams got those kinds of imports. Mas maganda pare-pareho kaming nag-i-improve with Cam.”

June Mar Fajardo led San Miguel with 23 points and 16 rebounds

Stone, a last-minute replacement for original choice Thomas Robinson, also had had 20 points and eight rebounds for San Miguel.

But he went 7-of-23 from the field, including 0-for-6 from the rainbow area, in his PBA debut.

Marcio Lassiter added 18 points and CJ Perez 16.
