BJMP jail officer who shot dead 2 ‘in-laws’, kills self in Valenzuela
A 55-year-old woman and her daughter were killed by a jail officer of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) who later committed suicide yesterday before dawn in Valenzuela City.
Valenzuela police chief P/Col. Salvador Destura, Jr. said the victims, identified as alias “Lanie”, died on the spot from a gunshot wound in the head while her 27-year-old daughter “Mary” who was also shot in the head succumbed to a gunshot wound while being treated at Valenzuela City Medical Center.
The suspect, identified only as certain “Mhel”, of Calderon St. Sta Lucia, Novaliches, Quezon City, died on the spot after he shot himself in the head.
An investigation conducted by P/EMS Felix Viernes at P/SSg Regor Germedia showed the suspect went to the victim’s house on Navarrette St., in Bgy. Arkong Bato and tried to barge inside but he was prevented by Lanie and her daughter.
A heated altercation ensued relating to the former live-in partner of the suspect identified as alias “Bernadette” who was also the daughter of Lanie.
At the height of their heated argument, the suspect drew a gun and shot the victims before committing suicide.
Police are still investigating to determine the motive behind the killing.
