CHOCO Mucho hardly showed the effects of its recent five-set loss to PLDT that halted its four-game run, trampling Akari, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21, to force another three-way tie for the lead in the Premier Volleyball League All-Filipino Conference at the Ynares Center in Antipolo Saturday night.

Coach Dante Alinsunurin was satisfied to see his Flying Titans regroup from 20-25, 12-25, 25-23, 25-11, 13-15 defeat to the High Speed Hitters last Tuesday.

“Meron kaming na-gain naman doon kahit natalo kami. Natuto kami sa ganoong sitwasyon. Siguro, ginusto namin na makuha namin ngayon para makabalik sa kumpiyansa namin,” said Alinsunurin.

Sisi Rondina spearheaded another Choco Mucho assault, finishing with 13 points, 17 digs and eight receptions while Maddie Madayag had three blocks for a 11-point output.

With the exception of a close second set where they trailed for most of the way, the Flying Titans displayed their superiority, outplaying the Chargers in the first and third sets on their way to posting their fifth victory in six matches.

That resulted in another crowded leaderboard as Choco Mucho joined defending champion Creamline and PLDT in first place.

Royse Tubino, filling in for top opposite spiker Kat Tolentino who was under the weather, had two blocks and two service aces to also finish with 11 points for the Flying Titans.

“Lahat, bawat isa sa team kaya nilang mag-lead. Basta sundin din lang namin yung sistema na gusto ng mga coaches. Hindi po kami mahihirapan,” said Madayag.

With the fitness of Choco Mucho players an utmost priority, Alinsunurin said that the team will have a couple of days off during the Lenten break before it resumes it campaign against Galeries Tower on April 2.

The Highrisers have won their last two matches and the Flying Titans are very aware of that.

“Siyempre magte-training pa rin kami kasi alam mo naman yung bawat team, importante pa rin yung kundisyon ng mga player namin, kailangang laging healthy,” said Alinsunurin.

Akari slipped to 2-4 in a tie with Farm Fresh and Galeries Tower in seventh place.

Faith Nisperos came through with 12 points, 12 receptions and 10 digs, Dindin Santiago-Manabat added nine kills while Grethcel Soltones logged seven points and eight reception for Chargers.
