PERSONNEL of the Provincial Community Affairs Development Office (PCADU) and the Lobo Municipal Police Station (MPS) on Friday conducted a tree-planting activity at Sitio Ulupong, Bgy. Sawang, Lobo, Batangas.

A report by Batangas Police Provincial Director Col. Samson Belgica Belmonte to Police Regional Office 4A (Calabarzon) Regional Director Brig. Gen. Carlito M. Gaces said that up to 800 seedlings of different types of trees such as malabulak, Philippine teak, kamagong, ipil-ipil, and salinggogon were planted by the provincial police in the village.

Monina Cay of the Lobo Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office and Dr. Ted Esguerra said “the next generation deserves a better place.”

The activity was also conducted under the BINHI program of the Energy Development Corporation (EDC) that aims to plant many trees throughout the Philippines.

Up to 160 police personnel participated in the activity.

Belmonte said that this type of activity is a way to protect nature due to ongoing climate change and to fight global warming.

He said the purpose of the activity is to make residents aware of the importance of planting trees and how to save our natural resources.

“We want to make the community feel that we, the police, are allies and are ready to help with their needs. At the same time, we also support Executive Order 70,” added Belmonte.
