Batangas has provided funds to purchase agricultural equipment to help farmers increase productivity and boost food supply amid the pandemic.
Batangas intensifies food supply efforts amid pandemic
BATANGAS Capitol — Through the Capability Development Fund, the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist (OPAg) has been provided with funds to purchase machinery that can be used in continuing to provide services to Batangueño farmers.
The OPAg purchased four four-wheel drive tractors, two four-wheel drive tractors and two multi-tiller/cultivators with complete implements and accessories.
The purchase of agriculture equipment is in response to the directive of Governor Dodo Mandanas to further strengthen farming in Batangas so as to meet the market demand for food supply despite the pandemic.
It is also part of the Agricultural Modernization initiative the program of the governor in collaboration with OPAg, led by Dr. Rod Bautista.
Through them, the basic needs of farmers for their planting will be met, including farm land preparation or Land Preparation Activities.
The tractor and multi-tiller will be used in corn, vegetable, rice, and other high-value crops. The drilling machine will help to dig holes (boreholes) for water well development needed for irrigation of farms.
