Angelica asks her parents not to watch her bold movies
ANGELICA Cervantes started as a singer in 2017 when she was 17 years old as a member of the song and dance girl group, Bella Donnas. She was taking up tourism at Lyceum University when she was offered to try acting in 2020.
“The pandemic just started and wala po akong ginagawa so I accepted it,” she says. “My first movie was “Eva” starring Angeli Khang, where I played a supporting role.”
She then played more supporting roles in “Kaliwaan”, “Silab” and the series “Wag Mong Agawin ang Akin”. She has played bigger roles in “Biyak”, “Home Service” and “An Affair to Forget”.
“Pero hindi po ako solo,” she says. “I shared topbillling with Quinn Carillo in ‘Biyak’, Hershie de Leon in ‘Home Service’ and Sunshine Cruz in ‘An Affair to Forget’.”
She now stars in “Haslers”, directed by Jose Abdel Langit and to start streaming on Vivamax on December 8.
“Bale apat po kaming lead stars dyan,” she says. “Kasama ko sina Quinn, Hershie and Denise Esteban. We play four friends na very close noong una pero nagkaiba-iba ng landas sa buhay. Ako po si Cheska, ‘yung parang mother ng grupo na pinakamatalino sa lahat. Naging valedictorian po ako and became a lawyer.”
Although she is the most successful among them, she hides a deep dark secret. To finance her college education, she worked as a topless maid who offers sexual services to their clients.
Angelica is the youngest of four kids. Two of her elder siblings are married. How does her family accept her going sexy in Vivamax films?
“Supportive naman po sila. But ‘yung parents ko, I told them huwag na lang silang manood. I’m using this lang naman para mapansin ang acting talent ko and later get offers in mainstream movies where I won’t be required na maghubad.”
Angelica admits she is now in a relationship. When she is asked how her boyfriend accepts her work as a sexy actress, she says: “Hindi po boyfriend, girl po siya. Bi po ako.
Three years na rin kami. Nagkaroon din po ako ng boyfriend noon. But mas malakas ang emotional bonding namin ng karelasyon ko ngayon.”
Since they play best friends in “Haslers”, is really good friends with her three co-stars? “Yes po. We’re all part of Bella Donnas noon and now, we’re all with VMX Belles who perform regularly here in Viva Cafe. While doing ‘Haslers’, we became even much closer to each other.”
