YUKIEN Andrada drilled the game-winning triple as Marinerong Pilipino-San Beda pulled off a 90-87 win over debuting Wang’s Basketball @27 Striker-Letran in the PBA D-League Aspirants’ Cup at the Filoil EcoOil Centre yesterday.

From a Peter Alfaro pass, Andrada’s walk-off three-pointer – his 15th point of the game – broke the backs of the Knights, spoiling the debut of their new coach Rensy Bajar.

The Red Lions have won two in a row after an opening day loss.

“Hats off to coach Rensy even though bagong appoint pa lang, na-preppare niya yung team. Nawala yung mga key player pero yung mga naiwan, kita mo naman. Pag San Beda-Letarn talaga, you have to be ready for a tough game,” said coach Yuri Escueta.

“It’s a tough game but a win is a win on the lucky shot of Yukien,” he added.

Earlier, Centro Escolar University poured its wrath on AMA Online, 107-68, to enter the win column.

Jacob Cortez came through with 23 points and five assists, while Aaron James Royo chipped in 13 points and six rebounds for the Red Lions.

Kobe Monje was solid for the Knights with 20 points, eight rebounds and three assists while Kurt Reyson had 18 points, including a lay-up in the final two seconds that forced the game’s final deadlock at 87-87.

The Scorpions raced to a 35-14 advantage and hardly encountered a resistence en route to a massive 39-point win.

CEU improved to 1-1 following an 84-62 loss to reigning champion EcoOil-La Salle in the opener two weeks ago.

“We’re overwhelmed in our first loss but the very first thing we did after that defeat was to adjust our defensive schemes. We made some adjustments on defense and luckily, we got this first win,” said coach Jeff Perlas, who’s still in a transition period with CEU following his appointment last February.

Vince Ferrer scored 18 points in only 12 minutes of action, Anjord Cabotaje added 16 while Ayodeji Victor Balogun collared 15 points, 10 rebounds and two blocks for the Scorpions.

JC Yambao, Thirds Del Rosario and captain Nikon Alina had 12 each for the Titans, who remained winless in two games.
