Team 80s in upset win
TEAM 80s brought down erstwhile undefeated Batch 2000, 85-79, for its third win in five outings in the ERJHS Alumni Sports Club basketball tournament at the Brgy N.S. Amoranto Covered Court in Malaya St. Quezon City.
Veteran Joseph Realista and Voltaire Penaga combined for 49 points as the Team 80s came through with the much-needed victory in this seven-team, month-long tournament being held to promote friendship and camaraderie.
Realista, who played for Tanduay and Alpha 7 in 50-up tournaments in several Southeast Asian countries, led Team 80’s with 26 points.
Penaga added 23 points for Team 80s of coach Arnold Tanare and assistant coach Wewel Mercado.
Ron Anthony Anasco carried the fight for Batch 2000 with 24 points, followed by Oliric Lacsamana and Julius Isidro with 15 points apiece.
In the only other game, Batch 94 downed Batch 93, 73-60, for its first win in five matches.
Jay Delos Santos scored 20 points, Jesus Vega had 19 and Philip Sta. Maria contributed 16 for Batch 94.
Dong Ramirez topscored with 16 points for Batch 93, followed by Jeri Santos with 14, and Sherwin Borja with 13 points.
The tournament is supported by Barrangay N.S Amoranto, headed by Chairman Ato de Guzman. AA
