All set for Bacoor City plebiscite on July 29

BACOOR CITY, Cavite — A total of 114,416 registered voters in this locality are expected to participate in the plebiscite for the merger and renaming of barangays in the city on Saturday, July 29, 2023, said Commission on Elections Chairman George Erwin Garcia.

According to the Comelec office here, the information and campaign period started June 28 and ends today, Thursday, July 27, 2023.

The final joint security command conference for the Bacoor City plebiscite was held on July 24, 2023 at the Ballroom Sand and Steel, Fynn Boutique Hotel in Barangay Panapaan.

Discussed during the meeting were the security measures to ensure the safety of the residents during the exercise. Voting starts at 7 a.m. and ends 3 p.m.

The basis for the holding of the plebiscite is Bacoor City Ordinance No. 275-2023 dated 28 March 2023. If approved by its constituents, there will be a reduction in the total number of barangays in the city from 73 villages to 49 as a result of the merging, apart from the renaming.

Atty. Justine Dela Cruz, Bacoor City election officer, said there will 22 voting centers with 223 clustered precincts and 800 established precincts.

Atty Mico Morales – Castro, Cavite Provincial Election Supervisor presented the 22 polling places in the city namely the Bacoor National High School (Annex), Poblacion Elementary School, Bacoor Elementary School, Digman Elementary School, Sineguelasan Elementary, School, Mabolo Elementary School, Maliksi Elementary School, Mambog Elementary School, Evacuation Center with Covered Court, Real Elementary School, Silverhomes I Covered Court and Multi-Purpose Hall/Day Care Center, Salinas Elementary School, City of Bacoor National High School-Salinas, Aniban Elementary School, Ligas II Elementary School, Ligas I Elementary School, Niog Elementary School, Gov. P.F. Espiritu Elementary School, Perpetual Village V Covered Court and Multi-Purpose Hall, Talaba Elementary School, Zapote Elementary School and Longos Elementary School

The liquor and campaign ban will take effect on 12:01 a.m. of July 28 to 11:59 p.m. of July 29, 2023. Violators will be punished accordingly.
