THE Teachers Dignity Coalition (TDC) asked the Commission on Elections (Comelec) to grant an additional pay to teachers who served in the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections ( BSKE) on Monday,

The request was formally asked through a letter sent to Comelec Chair George Garcia.

The TDC also urged Comelec for tax exemption on their poll duty honararium.

The move was approved by Congress last year but was vetoed by President Marcos.

Lastly, citing the delays in some of the tasks that resulted in a straight 30 hours of sleepless and continuous work for some teachers, the group demanded overtime or additional pay.

TDC Chair Benjo Basas at the same time commended the agency for the successful conduct of BSKE 2023.

According to the group the election was generally peaceful and orderly despite some isolated reports of untoward incidents.

The Department of Education (DepEd) said the agency ensured that assistance is being provided to teachers that involved in accidents during the BSKE.
