Retired army gives up, brings own arrest warrant to ecija cops

SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija — A retired Philippine Army soldier voluntarily surrendered himself to police authorities here bringing with him a copy of the arrest warrant issued against him by a local court in Nueva Ecija.

Town police chief Major Shariel Paulino said the surrenderee identified as Alfredo Salonga, 59, alias Fred, of Bgy. Calitlitan, Aritao, Nueva Vizcaya gave himself up at the police station here at 11:40 a.m. Monday.

In surrendering, he said the suspect showed a copy of his arrest warrant for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children Act of 2004 which was issued by Branch 87 of Gapan City Regional Trial Court on July 6, 2022 with recommended bail fixed at P72,000.

Paulino said the suspect is now placed under police custody for proper disposition.
