Man, daughter die in Bataan fire
CAMP OLIVAS, City of San Fernando, Pampanga – A man and his daughter on Monday died in a fire that destroyed at least 15 houses in Orani, Bataan.
Police identified the fatalities as Johnny Muyon, 56, a technician, and his daughter Janine Emerald, a 20-year-old student, of Bgy. Pacar, Orani town.
Maj. Larry Valencia and SSg. Ramoncito Galura said the fire started in the house of Alice Visda-Puyat in the same village at 9:00 a.m. on Monday.
The raging blaze immediately spread to the adjacent houses, including the house of the Muyons, which were made up of light materials.
Affected residents scampered for safety, but Johnny and his daughter were trapped inside their burning house.
Responding firefighters helped contain the blaze, which was declared under control after an hour.
An investigation showed the fire was caused by faulty electrical wiring.
