A MOTHER and her two children died in fire that razed 60 houses and left around 200 individuals homeless Saturday morning in Taguig City.

Arson investigaror SFO1 Jerry Panganiban of the Taguig Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) identified the fatalities as Ivy Berde, 33, and her children Chris Vynard, 4, and Chris Jhayvien, 3, all residents of Barangay Calzada, Tipas, Taguig City.

Berde’s four-month-old youngest child survived.

Berde was able to give the toddler to her mother before going back to their burning house to save her two other children.

The victims’ bodies were found by firefighters inside the comfort room of their burnt house.

The fire, of still undetermined origin, started at around 10 a.m from the house of Obdulla Delos Santos, 62, at the corner of Genarao and Sta Barbara Streets, Purok 5, Brgy. Calzada, Tipas and quickly spread to houses mostly made up of light materias.

Delos Santos and one Ricardo Reyes, 20 suffered difficulty of breathing due to the thick smoke and were treated by responding Taguig Rescue Team.

The affected families are now temporarily sheltered at the nearby public school while investigation are still ongoing to determine the cause of the blaze.
