PGT finalist jailed for drugs

A FINALIST in the ABS-CBN’s 2018 Pilipinas Got Talent was arrested and jailed by the Laguna police for drug trafficking, Laguna Police Provincial Office director, Colonel Serafin F. Petalio II said on Saturday.

Mark Joven Olvido, a 30-year old driver from Sitio Maunawain, Barangay Duhat, Sta. Cruz, who gained fame as ‘Vape Master’ in the popular talent show wherehe was thrid runner-up. He is facing charges for sale and possession of prohibited drugs under Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002, said the official.

Olvido gained popularity in the talent search for his comic skills and became a part-time actor in some movies as well as the Ang Probinsiyano series of ABS-CBN.

He is being held at the Sta. Cruz Municipal Police Station lock-up facility.

According to Petalio, the suspect was arrested in a buy-bust conducted in his neighborhood by members of the Laguna PPO Drug Enforcement Unit led by Lieutenant Henry Sasaluya and the Sta. Cruz MPS headed by Lt. Col. Chitadel Gaoiran inhis neighborhood at 2 p.m. Friday.

Recovered from the possession of the suspect were three heat-sealed plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, P2,000 in marked bills and six P100 bills all believed part of his drug proceeds.

Petalio, in a report to Police Regional Office 4-A director, Brigadier General Eliseo DC Cruz said the arrest of the suspect was triggered by an information from a concerned citizen regarding the ‘vape master’s involvement in illegal drug activities in their community.

Members of the Laguna PPO’s Provincial Intelligence Unit led by Lieutenant Col. Arvin Avelino validated the information and on Friday launched the sting after confirming the suspect’s illicit drug activities, he said.
