Suspect in murder of Cavite vice mayoral bet surrenders

GENERAL TRIAS CITY, Cavite – The prime suspect in the murder of the vice mayoral aspirant of Maragondon town formally surrendered to the authorities early Friday.

According to the information gathered presented by Police Corporal Jhocel Dayumat of the General Trias City Police Office, officer-on-case, Congressman Luis ‘Jon Jon’ Ferrer IV of General Trias City received a call from a relative of suspect Robert Amoranto that he will surrender to law enforcement to face his murder case in the killing of former Maragondon Vice Mayor Nolito ‘Vice Pogi’ Magallanes last November 16.

The suspect surrendered to Police Colonel Arnold Abad, acting Provincial Police Director, then he was turned over to Police Lt. Colonel Norman Rañon of General Trias City Police Office, 7 a.m. of November 19 in Bgy. Bagumbayan.

Police Staff Sargeant Jane Drio of the Cavite Provincial Police Office Public Information Office said both parties opted to face the media for interview.

According to the post of the wife of the victim, Elisa Broas Magallanes, the wake and viewing of the late Nolito Magallanes is at Marian Hall of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish Church, Col. Infante, Bgy. Poblacion, Maragondon, Cavite. Interment is scheduled on November 20 at Maragondon Catholic Cemetery.

Magallanes was killed by Amoranto at close range in his house in Lavanya Subd. in Bgy. Bacao 2, General Trias City last November 16 after their altercation over the parking on their drinking session prior to the incident.

Amoranto is now facing murder charges. He is in the custody of the General Trias police and is set for inquest proceedings.
