86 register for BSKE 2023 in Zambo prison
A TOTAL of 86 persons deprived of liberty (PDLs) and prison personnel have registered for the on-site satellite registration for the October 2023 Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan Elections (BSKE).
The registration was conducted by the local Commission on Elections (Comelec) at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City last January 11.
Of the 86 individuals, 73 of them were PDLs, five Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) employees, and eight civilians.
Last week, some 3,000 PDLs from the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa City took part in the two-day special satellite registration.
Also, several hundred more are expected to follow suit from other prison facilities under BuCor.
Apart from SRPPF and NBP, the other BuCor facilities are The Iwahig Prison and Penal Farm (IPPF) in Palawan, Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City, Sablayan Prison and Penal Farm (SPPF) in Oriental Mindoro;
The Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF) in Davao del Norte, and Leyte Regional Prison (LRP) in Southern Leyte.
