4 hurt, 1 dead in truck, tricycle smashup in Cavite
BACOOR CITY, Cavite – A minor died immediately at the scene of the incident, while three were injured when a tricycle collided with a 6-wheeler truck, Thursday, August 11, 2022, in Tirona Highway, Barangay Dulong Bayan here.
According to P/Cpl. Kelvin Kenneth Casaman, a Mitsubishi 6-wheeler truck driven by Thomas D. Padreque, 38, was traveling on the inner lane of the road heading toward Aguinaldo Highway direction while the Motorstar Kamao tricycle was from the outer lane and changed to the inner lane of the road heading toward Kawit direction around 3:00 in the morning.
The two vehicles collided, which caused the tricycle to crash and tumble upside-down.
The truck driver was injured, including the tricycle driver Edzel M. Canatuan, and his passengers Antoinette Asim and Jefferson Vilog sustained physical injuries in different parts of their bodies.
However, another trike passenger, Marlon D. Acqueen, 17, sustained a severe head injury and died instantaneously.
A rescue ambulance from BDRRMO arrived and treated the victims, while the truck driver was rushed to Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital but later transferred to St. Dominic Hospital.
The remains of Acqueen were brought to Starlight Funeral for autopsy.
Upon investigation, it appears that the driver of said tricycle has no driver’s license at the time of the accident.
