20 supporters break ties with CPP-NPA in Ecija

LLANERA, Nueva Ecija – At least 20 “sympathizers” of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army (CPP-NPA) have withdrawn their support to the rebel group following their mass surrender to authorities here on Friday.

Nueva Ecija top cop Col. Richard V. Caballero said the group’s withdrawal of support was facilitated by the 2nd Provincial Mobile Force Company led by Lt. Col. Joseph Sta. Cruz, in collaboration with the Provincial Intelligence Unit and other partner-police stations.

Caballero said these 20 members of the Liga ng Manggagawang Bukid-Kilusang ng Magbubukid ng Pilipinas under the Kilusan ng Magbubukid ng Pilipinas “broke their ties” with the CPP-NPA and pledged their commitment of support to the government during the activity held in Bgy. General Ricarte at 11:00 a.m. here.

The surrenderees were identified by their aliases as Liza, 38; Puring, 31; Me-anne, 28; Maggie, 47; Alnette, 42; Merly, 61; Bitoy, 65; Isel, 37; Nardo, 69; Cristy, 41; Rosie, 50; Edot, 63; Marlon, 36; Flor, 63; Monte, 42; Ador, 56; Linda, 67; Cely, 64; Garet, 70; and Emily, 48, all of Bgy. Sta. Cruz said this operational accomplishment by his unit is in line with the “Oplan Balik-Loob” program of the government and support of the anti-insurgency drive of the Nueva Ecija Provincial Task Force-To End the Local Communist Armed Conflict (NE-PTFELCAC) program.
