2 rebels surrender in Zambales
Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — A former member of Bagong Hukbong Bayan (BHB) in Olongapo City and top rebel leader in Zambales surrendered to authorities.
Joint elements of Olongapo City police, Zambales police, PNP-SAF, Army’s 70 Infantry Battalion and Olongapo City Maritime Police under the overall supervision of Olongapo City police director Col. Jeric Villanueva facilitated the voluntary surrender of alias Susan, a former member of Criminal Terrorist Group under BHB.
In Castillejos, Zambales, alias Rex, a ranking officer of KLG West Platun 2, Iskwad Tres, Lino Blas Command South Party Committee, yielded to authorities and turned over a 12- gauge shotgun.
PRO3 regional director Brig. Gen. Valeriano de Leon said the surrenderees will get government assistance such as remuneration for a surrendered firearm, immediate cash assistance and livelihood opportunities.
“Those who wish to join mainstream society are very much welcome. We are here to assist them in their reintegration,” De Leon said.
