18 ‘sabungeros’ nabbed in Bataan
BATAAN Police Director Col. Romell Velasco said at least 18 suspects were arrested on Sunday in separate anti-illegal gambling operations conducted in Balanga and Dinalupihan.
In a report, Balanga Police Chief Lt. Col. Dennis Orbista said his men and elements of the 1st PMFC, Bataan, arrested eight suspects conducting an illegal “tupada” (cockfighting) on Ma. Lourdes St., Bgy. Central, Balanga City.
Seized from the suspects were five live fighting cocks or “panabong”, a dead fighting cock, two gaffs or “tari” and P3,270 bet money.
Meanwhile, Dinalupihan Police Commander Maj. Randy Apolonio reported that ten “sabungeros” were arrested during a joint anti-illegal gambling operation by the Dinalupihan MPS and 1st PMFC Bataan at Bgy. JC Payumo, Dinalupihan, Bataan.
Confiscated were three fighting cocks, two gaffs (tari), and P4,400 bet money.
All the suspects will be charged with violations of PD 449 or illegal cockfighting.
