HANDA ang Visayas Command (VISCOM) upang tiyaking tahimik at mapayapa ang pagsasagawa ng Barangay at SK Elections (BSKE) 2023 sa kanilang nasasakupan.

Ito ang tiniyak ni Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) Visayas Command Public Information Office (PIO) chief Lt. Col. Israel O. Galorio.

Ang pahayag ay ginawa matapos ang executitve meeting sa pagitan nina Comelec (Commissions on Election) Region 7 Director Atty. Lionel Marco R.Castillano, HRO ng Comelec 7, Bong Abillar, at VISCOM commander Lt. Gen. Benedict M. Arevalo.

“We are ready to take on our task of securing and ensuring peace in the upcoming Barangay and SK Elections 2023. We have made initial coordination with the PNP and the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG). Once deputized, we will have enough personnel to support the PNP (Philippine National Police) and COMELEC on this undertaking,” pahayag ni Arevalo.

Sa ngayon, patuloy aniya nilang tinutulungan ang PNP sa pagba-validate ng mga election watchlist areas kung saan 37 sa mga ito ay matatagpuan sa Region 6, nasa 63 naman ang mataatgpuan sa Region 7 at 58 mula sa Region 8.

Sinabi ni Arevalo na 40 sa nasabing watchlist ay “areas of concern,” 92 ang “areas of immediate concern,” at 26 ang “areas of grave concern.”

“At present, we continue to assist our PNP counterpart in validating the election watchlist areas in the region since this will be the basis of our security deployment during the election,” Paliwanag ni Arevalo.

Sa ngayon, umaabot sa 158 lugar sa buong Visayas Region ang kabilang sa Election Watchlist Areas.

Batay sa ulat, ang “areas of concern” ay lugar lung saan mayroong “intense political rivalry” at “election-related incidents.”

Ang “areas of immediate concern” naman ay mga lugar lung saan naroon ang presensiya ng mg rebeldeng grupo tulad ng New People’s Army (NPA) at iba pang threat groups.

Ang “areas of grave concern” naman at lugar na may matinding political rivalry at presensia ng NPA at iba pang threat groups.

Tiniyak ni Arevalo na gagawin ng kanilang hanay ang lahat upang matiyak na ligtas ang mga mamamayan sa Visayas region.

“Rest assured that our efforts in ensuring the safety and security of our people in the region will never waver, especially on the upcoming Barangay and SK Elections. Our troops are highly motivated and are ready to perform our mandate,” paliwanag ni Arevalo.

Ang BSKE ay nakatakda sa Oktubre 30 habang ang election period ay magsisimula sa Agosto 28 hanggang Nobyembre 29.
