CABANATUAN CITY — Gov. Aurelio M. Umali has recovered from COVID-19 and has resumed hosting Usapang Malasakit sa Lipunan, his weekly tele-radio program after skipping 10 episodes

Umali tested positive for the virus on March 22. He returned fully recovered to host UML’s 111th episode on Tuesday here.

He was welcomed back by co-hosts provincial administrator Atty. Alejandro Abesamis, provincial tourism officer Atty. Joma San Pedro and Fr. Arnold Abelardo, provincial inter-agency task force spokesman.

Umali, a Born-Again Christian, thanked the Lord for surviving COVID-19 and for being able to return to his daily chores as governor. He also thanked those who texted and offered prayers of support and encouragement for him.

Umali, who recovered from the virus along with his daughter Alecks, dedicated the 11th episode of the UML program to three provincial government employees who had died of COVID-19.

The governor identified the COVID fatalities as Engr. Ernesto Sarangaya, of the engineering office, Joel Velasco, of the Language and Skills Institute at the old capitol, and Pepito Ariquez Jr. of the provincial social welfare and development office.

The governor urged his fellow public servants to reveal the truth at once and not hide their health conditions about COVID-19 because it is their responsibility to their constituents.

“Dapat manguna tayo sa pagsasabi ng katotohanan, huwag nating itago. It is our responsibility to speak out the truth. We know the protocols. Let us be serious about our obligations,” Umali said.
