UNIVERSITY of Santo Tomas got the job done by tripping La Salle-Zobel, 25-13, 25-17, 25-20, to complete the girls Final Four cast in the UAAP high school volleyball tournament yesterday at the AdU Gym.

The Junior Tigresses rose to 7-3 to gain a piece of second place, while sending the Junior Lady Spikers to their seventh loss in 10 matches.

Now level with idle Far Eastern University-Diliman, UST’s victory gave defending champion National University Nazareth School (6-4) a free ride to the Final Four.

“We’re happy na narito kami sa Final Four, kaya lang hindi pa naman tapos. Mahaba yung liga so preparation namin iyan, itong mga ito, going into the top four,” said Junior Tigresses coach Kungfu Reyes.

”Malalaman pa kung stepladder or top four, kahit ano man, magpe-prepare naman yung tropa,” he added.

Adamson, which is undefeated in 11 matches, can jump straight to the Finals with another victory on Sunday. The Baby Falcons will wrap up their elimination round assignments against the Baby Tamaraws.

In the boys division, FEU-D defeated UST, 25-19, 25-18, 23-25, 25-22, to book its place in the Final Four.

“Malaking bagay sa amin ito, yung Final Four, so the next naman diyan, yung twice-to-beat makakalaban namin. Kahit sino naman diyan sa twice to beat ready naman kami, handa naman kami kung sino kalabanin namin,” said coach Rjay del Rosario after the Baby Tamaraws raised their record to 9-3 in third place.

Adamson made short work of La Salle-Zobel, 25-11 25-16, 25-18, to keep its hopes alive for the remaining Final Four berth.

The Baby Falcons are now at 6-6, a game behind the fourth-running Junior Golden Spikers (7-5).

University of the East remains on top with a 11-1 card, while NUNS sits in second place at 10-0.

The Junior Green Spikers, no longer in the running for the Final Four, slid to a 4-8 record in sixth spot.
