ADAMSON moved two wins away from securing an outright Finals berth with a 25-6, 25-12, 25-5 sweep of Ateneo, while Far Eastern University-Diliman made quick work of UP Integrated School, 25-10, 25-10, 25-10, to advance to the Final Four of the UAAP high school girls volleyball tournament yesterday.

The Baby Falcons are assured of finishing as the No. 1 team in the elimination round at 10-0, while the Baby Tamaraws improved to 7-3 in second place.

“Siguro, yung consistency talaga yung gusto naming makita sa girls moving forward,” FEU-D coach Rjay del Rosario said. “Yung galaw nga mga bata, kailangang ma-polish pa namin para sa Final Four rin. Ready naman kami kahit sinong makalaban.”

“Yung fighting spirit, isa rin sa gusto kong ma-develop pa nila. Tapos yung communication and coordination nila sa loob ng court; iyun ang kailangan namin.”

Defending champion National University Nazareth School overpowered La Salle-Zobel, 25-12, 25-10, 25-17, to open a two-game lead in the race for the last Final Four berth in the opening match at AdU Gym.

The Bullpups now have a 5-4 record, while the Junior Lady Spikers suffered their sixth loss in nine matches.

“Yung dalawang losses namin against Adamson, accepted na namin iyon. Kumbaga, paano na lang namin i-fill yung kulang namin. And we need to take these oppotunities para maka-angat pa kami possibly to number two,” NUNS coach Norman Miguel said.

“Important itong panalo na ito. Confident naman kami na kaya nilang umabot hanggang dulo, pero for now, kailangan naming isa-isahin ‘yong mga games. One game at a time muna kami: next is UP, then Ateneo, then ‘yung UST na importante for placing.”

The Blue Eagles fell to 2-7, while the Junior Fighting Maroons remained winless in 10 matches.
