SAN Miguel Beer will enter the long, two-week break with a perfect 2-0 record in the PBA Philippine Cup.

With the PBA taking a breather to give way to the All-Star Week and the Lenten Season, San Miguel found itself as one of only two unbeaten teams following a thrilling 91-89 victory over TNT at the Ynares Sports Center in Antipolo last Sunday.

The Beermen squandered a commanding 15-point lead but recovered in time to escape the Tropang Giga and join idle Manolia Chicken Timplados as the only unbeaten teams.

San Miguel debuted with a convincing 109-97 win over Rain or Shine last March 15.

But the victory over the Tropang Giga did not come easy.

With the score pegged at 91-89 with still 15 seconds left, the Beermen put up a good defense on ace gunner Jayson Castro and forced the veteran TNT playmaker to pass ballpossession to Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser

But the new TNT recruit Ganuelas- Rosser missed a catch-and-shoot play. that could have won the game for the Tropang Giga.

The win by San Miguel also preserved June Mar Fajardo’s double-double performancr of 15 points and 17 rebounds in a rare off-the-bench stint.

Marcio Lassiter, Don Trollano and Jericho Cruz contributed 12 points apiece..

Castro topscored for TNT with 20 points, followed by Roger Pogoy with 15 points and Calvin Oftana and Kelly Williams with 14 poins each.

The scores:

San Miguel (91) — Fajardo 15, Lassiter 12, Trollano 12, Cruz 12, Romeo 9, Enciso 9, Perez 9, Ross 6, Teng 5, Tautuaa 2, Brondial 0.
