Olivarez downs La Salle behind Umali’s big game

OLIVAREZ College outplayed De La Salle University-Dasmariñas, 88-81, while St. Dominic College of Asia subdued PATTS College of Aeronautics, 57-50, in the 30th NCRAA basketball tournament at Bestlink Gymnasium in Quezon City.

John Umali provided the firepower for the Sea Lions of coach Mike Saguiguit as he scored 18 points on 4-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

Rodel Renon contributed with 17 points and 10 rebounds, Lian Barbero added 13 points and Hanz Maycong chipped in 11 points for the Sea Lions, who improved their record to 4-1 win-loss.

Gio Santiago was the top scorer for the Patriots of coach Tito Reyes, finishing with 37 points.

Ronroy Bunda added 17 points and six rebounds while JL Rasonable had 10 points and 11 rebounds for the Dasmariñas-based team

Meanwhile, Didoy Proel led the charge for the Pikemen of coach Bong De la Cruz.

The Pikemen improved to 3-3.

Proel finished with 22 points, shooting 6-of-16 from the field.

Edward Clarete added nine points and eight rebounds and Adrian German and Russell Bunagan had six points each.

Emman Benitez spearheaded the Sea Horses in scoring with 15 points and five rebounds for coach Lensy Aransazo.

Sec Butao and Joshua Bongon had seven points each.
