A jobless man, suspected to be involved in illegal drugs, was shot dead by still unidentified suspects in Malabon City.

Malabon Police Chief P/Col. Albert Barot said Jerome Josue, 27, of 64 Damson St. Brgy. Dampalit died on the spot from a bullet wound in the head while the suspects immediately escaped after the killing towards Bautista St. in Brgy. Dampalit.

The incident, according to witnesses Mark Anthony Aleta, 27, of Salinyasi St. Brgy. 8 Caloocan City and Marlon Bocabo, 29, of Damata St. Letre Road, Tonsuya, Malabon City, happened at around 8:20 p.m. on Sunday along Damson Street.

The two witnesses, who came from biking, rested along the side of Damson St. where they saw the victim, along with the two suspects, walking towards a fishing ground in the area. The victim even told the witnesses that they were going after illegal fishing in the area.

A few minutes later, they heard a burst of gunfire and saw two men running towards Bautista St., leaving the victim sprawled bloodied on the ground.

Responding elements of Malabon Police Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) who responded to the crime scene recovered a heat-sealed transparent plastic sachet containing an undetermined quantity of shabu, dried marijuana leaves wrapped in a foil, and a fan knife from the victim.

Col. Barot said his men are still conducting a follow-up operation for possible identification and arrest of the suspects while the motive behind the killing is yet to be determined.
