Store helper held for stolen P17K cigarettes

SAN JOSE CITY – A store helper who admitted stealing several reams of cigarettes worth more than P17,000 and selling them to delivery sales agents without his boss’ knowledge and consent was arrested on Sunday.

City police head Lt. Col. Palmyra D. Guardaya identified the arrested suspect as Allan Dasal, 29, of Zone 6, Bgy. San Isidro, Lupao, Nueva Ecija.

He was nabbed at 1 p.m. here following a qualified theft complaint lodged by storeowner Teresita Villaflores, 69, of Sta. Romana Subd., Bgy. Abar 1st, this city, where he is working as the latter’s store helper.

Villaflores complained to the authorities after discovering that about 15 reams of Marlboro Red cigarettes worth P17,400 were missing from her store.

During questioning by the victim, the suspect finally admitted to the crime and pointed to their delivery sales agents as the ones who bought the stolen items.

Charges for qualified theft are being readied for filing against him before the city prosecutor’s office.
