BEFORE the House of Representatives adjourned for its Lenten break Wednesday the biggest political party in the chamber, Lakas-Christian Muslim Democrats, welcomed 23 local officials as new members.

This developed after Speaker and Lakas-CMD President Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez administered the oath to new party members, including a former lawmaker and 22 others, mostly local officials from various areas of the country.

“As you officially become part of our political family, I am confident that your energy, passion, and ideas will invigorate our collective efforts towards realizing a brighter future for all Filipinos,” Romualdez said as he welcomed the new party members.

Among those who were sworn in as new Lakas-CMD members during the simple rites held at the Social Hall of the Speaker’s Office in the House of Representatives is former Nueva Ecija 2nd District Rep. Micaela S. Violago, previously a member of the National Unity Party.

The new party members from the province of Pangasinan include Mayor Julier Resuello and Vice Mayor Joseres Resuello, both of San Carlos, along with Maan Tuazon-Guico, and Atty. Melanie Lambino.

Mayor Nadya B. Emano-Elipe of Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental led nine other officials of the municipality in taking their oath as new members of the party, namely: Vice Mayor Robinson V. Sabio, and Councilors Mikka N. Sultan, Chicque Cosin-Co, Roger S. Achas, Cathlyn Valdehueza-Alfante, Karl Marx M. Agustero, Honey Analou Emano-Doña, Armando C. Pomar and Audie G. Paduganan.

Mayors from three Laguna municipalities were also sworn in yesterday as new member of Lakas, including Romeo P. Amorado (Majayjay, Laguna), Vener P. Muñoz (Rizal, Laguna) and Elmor V. Vita (Nagcarlan, Laguna).
