Speaker Romualdez among top gov’t execs with high trust ratings

SPEAKER Ferdinand Martin G. Romualdez has joined President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Romualdez Marcos Jr. among top government officials who received high approval and trust ratings from the RP-Mission and Development Foundation Inc. (RPMD).

Following their first year in office, Speaker Romualdez got an impresssive 70 percent approval rating while President Marcos clinched an approval score of 82%.

According to Dr. Paul Martinez of RPMD, the independent and non-commissioned result of the “𝐁𝐨𝐬𝐞𝐬𝐧𝐠 𝐁𝐚𝐲𝐚𝐧” public sentiment survey, carried out from June 25 through July 5, 2023, and disclosed on July 20.

In the realm of congressional leadership, Filipino citizens have delivered strong approval rating for Speaker Romualdez who got an impressive 70%, marking an essential leap of +10 percentage points.

Speaker Romualdez experienced a nine-point ascension, culminating in an admirable 72% trust score.

This data underlines the escalating wave of public goodwill toward the stewardship of Speaker Romualdez.

Like President Marcos and Romualdez who had stellar performance indicators in the recent survey, Vice President Sara Duterte received 86% and Senate President Juan Miguel Zubiri got 69%.

In addition to these high approval ratings, President Marcos and Vice President Duterte reflected remarkable levels of public trust—an indispensable cornerstone of effective leadership.

Within the span of a year, President Marcos has achieved the deep-rooted confidence of 86% of Filipinos, and Vice President Duterte got 90% trust score.

Zubiri garnered a 69% approval rating, indicating a significant growth of +7 percentage points.

The Senate President Zubiri’s trust rating is now at solid 71%.

Regarding cabinet officials, Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) has maintained his standing as the top-ranking cabinet official with an exceptional performance rating of 88% and a trust rating of 93%.

Sec. Abalos is followed closely by a cadre of cabinet members: Social Welfare and Development Secretary Rex Gatchalian, (76% approval, 85% trust rating), National Security Adviser Eduardo Año (75% approval, 87% trust rating), Tourism Sec. Christina Garcia-Frasco (75% approval, 70% trust rating), Budget and Management Sec. Amenah Pangandaman (73% approval, 75% trust rating), Trade and Industry Sec. Alfredo Pascual (71% approval, 65% trust rating), DICT Sec Ivan John Enrile (71% approval, 78% trust), Justice Sec. Jesus Crispin Remulla (69% approval, 66% trust rating), and Finance Sec. Benjamin Diokno (68% approval, 70% trust rating), all of whom have displayed strong approval and trust ratings.

The 6th to 10th places in the ranking have been filled by the Department of Migrant Workers Sec. Susan Ople had 66% approval and 68% trust ratings, followed by Exec. Sec. Lucas Bersamin (66% approval, 69% trust rating), DFA Sec. Enrique Manalo (66% approval, 67% trust rating), DPWH Sec. Manuel Bonoan (64% approval, 69% trust rating), SolGen Menardo Guevarra (64% approval, 69% trust rating), DOST Sec. Renato Solidum Jr. (63% approval, 67% trust rating), DHSUD Sec. Jerry Acuzar (61% approval, 64% trust rating), NEDA Sec. Arsenio Balisacan (61% approval, 63% trust rating), DOLE Sec. Bienvenido Laguesma (59% approval, 61% trust rating), Special Assistant to the President Anton Lagdameo Jr. (59% approval, 63% trust rating), Press Sec. Cheloy Garafil (57% approval, 60% trust rating), DOE Sec. Raphael Lotilla (57% approval, 59% trust rating) These officials have also secured praiseworthy approval and trust ratings, highlighting the overall positive public sentiment towards the leadership at the country’s helm.

𝗧𝘂𝗹𝗳𝗼, 𝗩𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗿, 𝗥𝗲𝘃𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗮: 𝗧𝗼𝗽 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝗲𝗻𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗥𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴𝘀

In a notable representation of senatorial performance, Senators Raffy Tulfo (89.4%), Mark Villar (88.6%), and Bong Revilla (88.5%) have tied statistically, securing the position of top-performing lawmakers.

Earning the second rank statistically are Senators Francis Tolentino (86.1%), Imee Marcos (80.5%), and Grace Poe (85.8%). The third position witnesses a tie between Senators Bong Go (82.7%) and Robin Padilla (82.3%).

Senators Chiz Escudero (86.2%) and Loren Legarda (80.2%) have also managed to tie, settling in the fourth rank.

Senators Win Gatchalian (76.5%), Sonny Angara (75.7%), and Cynthia Villar (75.3%) occupy the fifth rank, followed by Senators Alan Cayetano (72.4%), Ronald Dela Rosa (71.8%), Koko Pimentel (68.7%), and Risa Hontiveros (68.2%).

Securing the eighth place are Senators Nancy Binay (65.8%) and Pia Cayetano (64.7%), succeeded by Senators Joel Villanueva (61.5%), JV Ejercito Estrada (60.7%), Jinggoy Estrada (60.2%), with Senator Lito Lapid closing the list in the tenth position with an overall score of 58.6%.

The recent survey unveils a clarion call from Filipinos for the current administration to focus on various vital issues. A substantial 28% of participants underscored the need for economic stability, illustrating a nationwide appeal for a robust economy. Poverty alleviation emerged as a critical concern for 22% of respondents, while 18% emphasized social welfare, highlighting an urgency for holistic initiatives to combat poverty and enhance social support systems. The call for job creation was evident, with 17% of respondents voicing this need. Moreover, a meaningful 15% supported the intensification of anti-corruption efforts, reflecting a demand for greater transparency and integrity within governance. Dr. Martinez added that this survey presents a roadmap for areas that demand heightened attention and intervention.

The RPMD national survey, aptly named “Boses ng Bayan,” resonated across each city in every region from June 25 to July 5, 2023, engaging a total of 10,000 adult participants. Drawing from a pool of 67.75 million registered voters, the respondents were selected randomly, and each city’s count was proportionately distributed based on official voter population statistics. The survey results have a margin of error of +/-1% and a 95% confidence.
