CAMP QUINTIN MERECIDO, Buhangin, Davao City – A police officer on Thursday apprehended a man who violated a “No Smoking” city ordinance and later yielded over P280,000 worth of shabu in Davao City.

In a report to Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) Director Benjamin Silo Sr., Pat. Ramel Botohan, a member of the Davao City Mobile Force Company, initially apprehended suspect Abdullah Asakil for violating the city ordinance for “anti-smoking” near the Davao City Jail in Ma-a, Davao City.

However, when Botohan was about to issue a citation ticket on Asakil, he ran away and threw away the plastic cellophane he was holding.

Botohan gave chase and later cornered the suspect and turned him over to Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) personnel JO1 Esmael A Kasan.

Botohan immediately coordinated with the Police Station 16 and the barangay officials in recovering the plastic bag the suspect threw.

Inside the plastic bag were three plastic sachets of shabu weighing at least 18 grams valued at P288,000.

“The vigilance of our police personnel is remarkable and inspiring to see our cops performing well and doing their best in the field. There are many cops like Patrolman Botohan who excel in the field in silence while performing their duties exemplarily,” Silo said.
