600 victims in Or. Mindoro receive P3K aid each

THE offices of Speaker Fedinand Martin G. Romualdez and Tingog Party-list Rep. Yedda Marie K. Romualdez in partnership with the Marcos administration through Sec. Rex Gatchalian of the Department of Social Welfare and Development distributed P3,000 in cash assistance on Saturday to each of the 600 oil spill victims in Oriental Mindoro.

The Speaker’s office also gave the province’s first congressional district led by Rep. Arnan Panaligan a P500,000 calamity fund.

The P3,000 cash aid came from the Assistance to Individuals in Crisis Situations (AICS) program of the DSWD.

The release of financial aid was arranged by the Speaker’s office and Tingog led by Rep. Romualdez and Rep. Jude Acidre.

The distribution was attended by Panaligan and local officials led by Vice Mayor Marvin Rivera of Pola town.

It was held at the Pola auditorium. Other attendees included Councilors Agustin Rivas Jr., Rommel Bathan, Jerrymil Lincallo, and Wilson Soleto.

The extension of cash aid to oil spill victims followed a similar activity in Davao de Oro, where beneficiaries were families affected by the recent earthquake in the province.

Like in Mindoro Oriental, the Speaker and Rep. Yedda Marie Romualdez arranged the release of the assistance to the victims.

Speaker Romualdez said it is in situations like quakes and other calamities where the government has to come to the succor of those affected.

“The presence of the Marcos administration through the help it extends eases the pain and suffering of the victims,” he said.

For her part, Rep. Romualdez said: “We know the amount of assistance does not really cover the damage caused by disasters. But we hope it alleviates a little our citizens’ plight in times of need.”
