SIX most wanted New People’s Army (NPA) personalities in Southern Mindanao were arrested by the Police Regional Office 11 (PRO11) in separate manhunt operations in the region, PRO11 director, Brigadier General Benjamin H. Silo Jr. told the Journal Group on Sunday.

The six were arrested in separate manhunt operations in Sitio Magay in Bgy. Don Martin Marundan, Mati City last Wednesday, said the PRO11 director in a report to Philippine National Police (PNP) chief, General Rodolfo S. Azurin Jr.

The official said one of the suspects identified as Narabel Verana alias ‘Ka Liway,’ the no. 5 most wanted NPA member in Davao Oriental, was arrested in her residence in Sitio Magay.

Silo added that members of the Mati City Police Station, Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office and the Army’s 701st Brigade arrested the 26-year-old suspect who was identified as a secretary of the local guerrilla front.

The suspect is the subject of a warrant of arrest for a murder case with no bail recommended by Judge Semiramis Bituin Castro of the Mati City Regional Trial Court Branch 5.

The 2nd identified as Sergio Catampao alias ‘Ka Baytol’ was collared in the same area by a joint PRO11-Army team. Silo said Catampao is the 4th most wanted man in the province on the basis of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Angelita Alfonzo-Tumanda of the Mati City RTC.

The 49-year-old suspect is also facing another criminal case for serious illegal detention issued by the same court on March 15, 2019.

Silo said the 3rd identified as Vilma Santos Calunsod, tagged as the no. 3 most wanted NPA member in Davao Oriental, was arrested in the same area on the same day. The suspect was described as a 33-year-old sub-contractor of a private firm residing in Toril District in Davao City.

The PRO11 director said Calunsod is the subject of a warrant of arrest for violation of Republic Act 10364 or the Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act of 2012 in relation to RA 7610 or the anti-child abuse law and RA 11188 or the special protection of children in situations of armed conflict.

No bail was recommended for the temporary liberty of the accused in connection with the anti-trafficking in persons case filed against her.

The 4th identified as Angelie Fortich alias ‘Ka Amihan,’ described as the 8th most wanted NPA personality in the province was arrested in the same area on Thursday. The 25-year-old woman was described as a secretary of the NPA Guerrilla Front 20.

Judge Alfonso-Tumanda issued a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder against the accused.

The 5th identified as Joey Billones alias ‘Ka Bino,’ tagged as the 7th most wanted NPA member in the province, was nabbed on the same day in the same barangay. The accused was described as an NPA political instructor.

Brig. Gen. Silo said that the accused is the subject of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by Judge Alfonso-Tumanda.

The 6th identified as Katug Lintuan alias ‘Katog,’ the 6th most wanted NPA personality in Davao Oriental, was arrested 1 p.m. last Thursday in the same area on the strength of a non-bailable warrant of arrest for murder issued by the same Mati City RTC Branch 5 judge.
