Rob-holdup suspect mauled by bystanders

A ROBBERY-HOLDUP suspect was beaten black and blue by bystanders after he allegedly held up a saleslady using a toy gun Wednesday afternoon in Malabon City.

City police chief P/Col. Albert Barot said the timely arrival of policemen assigned at the Malabon Police Sub-Station 7 led by P/MSgt. Geraldo Bautista and barangay watchmen of Brgy. Baritan, saved Bryan James Eusebio, 33, of 101 N. Vicencio St. Brgy. Niugan from suffering serious injuries.

Police Sub-Station 7 commander P/Maj. Patrick Alvarado said Samantha Santos, 18, of 95 Kasarinlan St. Brgy. Muzon, Malabon City was manning Margaux Footwear located at 315 Gen. Luna St. Brgy. Baritan when the suspect barged inside at around 5 p.m., pointed a gun at the victim, forcibly took her cellular phone then fled on foot.

The victim shouted for help alerting bystanders who mauled him when he was cornered following a brief chase.

Malabon deputy chief for administration P/Lt. Col. Rhoderick Juan said responding policemen and barangay watchmen recovered the stolen cellular phone and the toy gun used by the suspect in staging a robbery.
