KABATAAN party-list Rep. Sara Elago called on the Department of Education (DepEd) and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) to address the appeal of the students from St. Louis University in Baguio City for “academic break.”

Elago expressed concern over the reported academic pressure and stress affecting the students’ mental health.

Reports said that at least three students from the said school have committed suicide because allegedly they can no longer accomplish the requirements for online school.

Students from Baguio City also urged the local government to declare an academic break as learners feel overwhelmed in trying to finish all the school works, which they deemed as ‘too much” and “very loaded.”

Elago also raised the issue about book purging allegedly being implemented by the NTF-ELCAC.
