Rape suspect falls after 9 yrs of hiding
PHILIPPINE National Police-Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (PNP-CIDG) elements last Thursday nabbed the most wanted person in Central Visayas after hiding for nine years, PNP-CIDG director Major General Romeo M. Caramat said Saturday.
CIDG Cebu Provincial Field Unit agents arrested Rodel Canales for seven counts of acts of lasciviousness in Brgy. Kasambagan in Cebu City.
Caramat said that Judge Stephen Ian Belacho of the Cebu City Regional Trial Court Branch 22 recommended a total of P1.4 million bail for the temporary liberty of the suspect.
A record check showed that the accused started hiding after sexually abusing a 16-year-old girl seven times in 2004.
The victim’s mother filed a formal criminal complaint against the suspect leading to the issuance of a warrant of arrest against him.
