QCPD probes student’s ‘rape’ in UP Diliman

QUEZON City Police District (QCPD) Director, Police Brigadier General Nicolas D Torre III has ordered an in-depth investigation into the alleged rape incident that happened at 10:50 p.m. on July 1, 2023 at a vacant lot of the softball field of the University of the Philippines Campus in Quezon City.

Based on the report from PLt.Col. Reynaldo Vitto, Anonas Police Station (PS 9) commander, the alleged victim is a 5th year college student of Applied Physics, UP.

The student was allegedly raped by an unidentified man armed with a bladed weapon. It was also reported that the supposed victim did not recognize the suspect.

The alleged victim initially sought the assistance of UP Diliman Police (UPDP) Campus and was brought to the Crime Laboratory at Camp Crame. The UPDP was advised to turn over the incident to PS 9.

PS 9 police investigators led by the QCPD Director PBGEN Torre III did an ocular inspection and walkthrough at the crime scene, together with UPDP officers for evaluation. A continuous follow up operation is being conducted by the PS 9 in coordination with UPDP for the possible identification of the suspect.

There are 5 CCTV footages along the area which are yet to be checked and evaluated. Investigations on the construction site and the workers are also being conducted.
