Cops nab suspect in killing of 3 in LP

A MAN who killed his live-in partner and two of her relatives was arrested Saturday by the police three days after the bodies of the three were discovered inside their residence in Las Piñas City, National Capital Region Police Office director, Major General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. said.

Suspect Vincent Kanagy was still wearing the same white t-shirt and black short pants when arrested around 10:00 p.m. Saturday by members of the Las Piñas City Police Station during a hot pursuit operation.

The suspect will be inquested for for three counts of murder before the Las Piñas City Prosecutor’s Office.

Nartatez said he has ordered the Southern Police District (SPD) and the Las Piñas CPS to ensure that there will be an airtight case against the suspect.

The statements of some witnesses to the crime, including from a 4-year old son of the suspect, have been taken by SPD investigators.

An initial investigation showed that the bodies of the victims Mary Jean Avellana, Nathalie Jane Cabintoy, 19; and Oliver Bautista, 11, were discovered inside their house at 2190 Saint Charles Street in Saint Joseph Subdivision in Barangay Pulanglupa Dos in Las Piñas City around 1:34 p.m. Saturday.

The discovery of the bodies was reported to the local police an hour-and-a-half later.

The sister of the suspect, Princess, 20, discovered the bodies after smelling foul odor coming from their room.

The witness resides in the same subdivision.
