THE Quezon City Police District (QCPD)’s quick response on victims’ complaints and police visibility program resulted in the arrest of two robbers, reports said yesterday.

QC top cop Brig. Gen. Nicolas D. Torre III commended the operatives of Batasan (PS 6) and Galas (PS 11) Police Stations for the arrest of robbers identified as Nixon Dela Vega, 40, of Bgy. Bagong Silangan, and Jelvin Valdemoro, 39, of Bgy. 601 Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Suspect Dela Vega was nabbed in a follow-up operation after robbery victim Althen Sofia Lavarias sought assistance of PS 6. Lavarias said she was robbed by the suspect and took her cellphone worth P50,000.

She said she was walking on IBP Road in Batasan Hills around 6:30 a.m. when the suspect approached her and declared a heist.

Meanwhile, Valdemoro was arrested after robbing Rodolfo Penalba, a taxi driver at the corner of Palanza Street and G. Araneta in Bgy. Dona Imelda, QC.

At gunpoint, the suspect declared a hold-up and divested the driver of his day’s earnings.

PS 11 patrollers in the area spotted the commotion and chased the suspect.

Recovered from the suspect were a Super .380 with SN No. L00130 with a magazine and three bullets, cash money and one belt bag containing wallet with assorted IDs.

Torre III said that the suspects were charged with robbery while additional case for violation of R.A. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition was filed against Valdemoro.
